Ugh Left wing Religious groups at it again

Ok. I have had enough. These Christian groups getting all up in arms about The Golden Compass. Hey...I hate to tell you people, but even though you are spewing LIES left and right to get support, some of us actually heard Phillip Pullman say (out of his own mouth) that he is AGNOSTIC not an atheist. Not that it matters, mind you.

Why is that some guy that wrote a fairly bizarre and incongruous fictional novel who is agnostic suddenly becomes an anti-Christ trying to drive our innocent children away from God? Have you people even READ the books? How about even the first one? No? They WHY are you on the hate bandwagon with these other boneheads screaming about something you know nothing about.

Yeah...you want to "bring people closer to the Lord". Well, I can tell you from experience that attacks like this one do nothing but drive people away from Christ. The friggin' book takes place in some other place...not even Earth. So who cares what happens? IT'S a STORY. The more you screech about how evil it is, the more you are driving non-believers further away. I know...I used to be one.

The book, in my opinion, wasn't all that great. I found it convoluted and boring. My best hope is that the movie is watered down so that it makes a much better story. My husband used to listen to the unabridged books on CD when we'd go to bed. Confusing, boring, overly descriptive...these are the words I use to describe this book. Oh, and just because someone isn't a believer doesn't mean they are out to keep kids away from God. Yeah...and God isn't killed in the series either...it;s someone POSING as God. Big difference, I'd say.

My last question is this...if this book series is SO despicable and evil, why didn't you all make the big stink about it when it was published in 1995? After it won a bunch of awards? After the sequel books came out? No? Then why the HELL has it taken you TWELVE years to decide to make a big deal? Why don't you people go out and get all fired up about something IMPORTANT---something REAL. Like how we treat our war Veterans when they get back from overseas. How about that? They are real people woth real problems in our real world. Stop worrying about fictional shit and do what you claim to believe.

This is my first LJ post...hurray for trying new things!

Well, I am in the process of applying to a trading card company that has a particular line that is geared toward girls. The collection is called "Bella Sara", and consists of many different designs revolving around horses...from common pintos to mythical horses that fly or live in the sea. I am hoping to be able to get an illustrating job with them, since I can crank out horses pretty quickly. I think my fantasy style will suit them perfectly, and the best part is that my daughter already has a large collection of them. I'd love her to be able to say "My Mom designed this one!". I have NO idea how much a gig like that would pay, but hell...every little bit helps.

On another note, I am going to attempt to paint a piece to enter into the "National Christian Art Competition". It wil be my first time entering it, and I am hoping I have enough time to accomplish the piece I have in mind, since the deadline is December 31st. Here is a link to anyone who wants to see it http://www.art4god.com/html/

See you soon!
Michael
